Entrepreneurs compete by speed, originality, and strategy—Reid Hoffman

speed – grow so big so quickly that barrier to entry for new competition becomes economically unviable, at least in the current “cycle”[1]

originality – unlearn how things used to work in the past and break it down to individual pieces, put the pieces back together so they will work for the future

strategy – optimize for the vital few which empower existing networks and exert a pull on future networks

[1] here, define cycle by looking at remote retail,

there was a cycle when Sears owned the market

Sears was replaced by the cycle of QVC, telephones and early computers

Current cycle belongs to Amazon and Shopify
