you are the average of 5 people you spend most of your time with
let us extend this idea to email subscriptions
a part of you is the average of 5 newsletters you have subscribed to
most people have way too many subscriptions
all email has an unsubscribe option—but could there be a better way?
what if email senders are stopped from sending you any more email if you haven’t opened 3 emails from them in a row
this will have big impact
this will save so many people from decision fatigue of having trash email which will result in a higher bandwidth throughout the day
what if your email client had this setting? Apple? Google? Are you listening?
this works, anecdotally, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and many others choose/chose to wear the same clothes every day so they can conserve their ‘decision energy’
if only 20% of all people using email get this upgrade and as a result these 20% of people are able to get 1 more thing done, personal or work during the entire week
like grab another cup of coffee, or push more code or split test 1 more thing
there will be a net positive impact on the economy as a whole
